Survey results recently released show only 77 percent of Missourians wear their seat belt, four points below the 2006 national average of 81 percent. The interstate is among six nationwide in a "Corridors Of The Future" program that will look at innovative ways to reduce congestion and improve freight delivery. More teens are buckling their seat belts than ever before, but unfortunately hundreds of Missouri teens still die every year in traffic crashes and the large majority of those killed are not buckled up. Teens Child Passenger Safety Week is Sept. 16-22. Educational efforts during the week focus attention on the importance of child passenger safety and informing the public about legislation (for transporting children under 8) that took effect in August 2006. Boost More than 2,000 of Missouri's motor carriers learned the latest in security practices, including how to identify threats and vulnerable areas of their operations, as MoDOT tested a new security project for the Transportation Security Administration. Security The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently discussed MoDOT's 2008 Legislative Agenda. Besides talking about the need for additional revenue to fund transportation beyond 2009, the following proposals were approved:
