Legislative Priorities Outlined

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently discussed MoDOT's 2008 Legislative Agenda. Besides talking about the need for additional revenue to fund transportation beyond 2009, the following proposals were approved:

• Work zone safety enforcement improvements that would allow automated enforcement devices.
• More funding through general revenue for multimodal transportation.
• Become part of the federal Unified Carrier Registration program for trucks. If Missouri doesn't pass the legislation this session, it could lose out on $2.3 million in federal funds each year.
