Route 71 to Route 291
Length: 8.33 miles
Cost: $33 million construction
$3 million right of way
$4 million utilities, etc.
Construction will be accomplished in three phases, beginning with the western segment, because MoDOT already has acquired the right of way and easements at that end.
- Phase one is from just east of Route 71 to just west of Lumpkins Fork Creek.
- Contracts for the second and third phases may be let simultaneously, if that proves beneficial. Phase two connects on the west end with phase one, extending east to Horridge Road.
- Phase three goes from Horridge Road to west of Route 291.
Anticipated Schedule:
Right of way acquisition: scheduled to begin mid-2007 and be completed in 2009.
Begin construction phase one: 2008
Begin construction phases two and three: 2009-10
Completion: winter 2010-11
This project is being funded in part by money made available by the passage of Amendment 3 in November 2004.
This project is part of a series of projects to improve Missouri’s highways in the southern Jackson and northern Cass county area. Among those projects:
- Route 150 -- from Route 71 to Kansas state line completed May ’03, Route D to State Line completed October ’01 for $43.8 million, 5.33 million in right of way costs.
- Triangle project – begun in 2001 and scheduled for completion in 2008.
- Resurfacing of Route 71 – north of Route 291 to Blue Ridge Boulevard, including bridge rehabilitation in northern Cass County in 2004.
- Reconstruction of Route 291 from Cass County to Route 50 in Lee’s Summit, including a new interchange at Route 150, completed in 2004.
- Bridge replacement of Route 150 in Greenwood, scheduled to begin in 2007.
- Reconstruction of Route 58 from east of Raymore to Route D – last phase opened late 2005.
- Reconstruction of the Route 71 and Route Y interchange – scheduled to start in 2007 and be complete by 2008.
- Construction of a new interchange on Route 71 approximately two miles south of Route 58 – scheduled for construction by 2009.
- Resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation on I-470 from the Triangle to Route 291.
