Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Q: What is a location study, and why is it necessary?
A: A location study/environmental report is required for all projects with environmental considerations. It is prepared to determine the most advantageous location and type for a proposed highway improvement based on project purpose and need and on engineering and environmental constraints.
Q: Will this location study impact the project to improve the intersection of Routes 45 and K?
A: No. MoDOT is working with Platte County and the Parkville Special Road District on the design of intersection improvements (roundabouts) at Routes 45 and K, and Union Chapel and Brink Meyers Roads. Appraisals and negotiation work to acquire the property needed to build these improvements are under way. Once complete, construction should begin in spring 2007.
