MoDOT’s Kansas City District works with local public agencies that receive federal funds through Transportation Enhancements, Off-System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation, On-System Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality,
Surface Transportation Program and Safe Routes to School.
Current Planning Studies
MoDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) propose improving the I-70 Corridor from the last ramp termini east of the Missouri – Kansas state line to east of the I-470 interchange.

MoDOT and its planning partners need help identifying issues, needs, and locations for bicycle and pedestrian travel ways along MoDOT’s roads.

Completed Planning Studies

MoDOT is conducting a feasibility study of I-35 between the southwest corner of the downtown loop and the Kansas state line.

The M-350 Highway/Blue Parkway Corridor Redevelopment Study is a multi-phase study to develop a plan for the economic rejuvenation and redevelopment of the corridor.

MoDOT and the Federal Highway Administration
(FHWA) propose to reconstruct and widen Interstate 29/35 with new interchange
configurations, structures and roadways in Clay and Jackson Counties.

The I-470 Purpose and Need Study is the first step to gather detailed information on the stretch of I-470 from Blue Ridge Boulevard on the western end to 39th Street on the eastern end.

In 2000, MoDOT launched a study to determine potential transportation improvements for the U.S. 50 Corridor, a 10-mile stretch of highway extending from I-470 east to Missouri Route 7.
Flintlock Overpass
The proposed action is comprised of an overpass of I-35 that will connect Flintlock Road north of I-35 at NE 76th Street to Flintlock Road (formerly Hughes Road) south of I-35 at W Liberty Drive.
