The MoDOT/MSHP Medical Plan is
now providing a useful interactive service to its health plan
members: the Pharmacy Grade Card.
The Pharmacy Grade
Card is a resource for health plan members to compare pharmacies
on services and specific drug prices. Pharmacies can vary greatly
in price, generic dispensing, and effective use of clinical programs
intended to protect your health. Plan members may use this
tool as another resource to educate themselves on the best pharmacy
to provide services for themselves and their families.
The Pharmacy Grade Card allows a health plan member to look
at only the pharmacies in their region or city and
to compare specific drugs and the prices at different pharmacies
in their area. Additionally, by using the Avg. Weighted Severity
Index and % High Severity fields, a health plan member is able
to determine which pharmacy is making best use of their clinical
tools and expertise. This allows the health plan member to determine
which pharmacy is the best for their needs, not only financially
but also in helping to safeguard their health.
