MACON – Today the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved a contractor bid to provide a ferry service at Glasgow during the upcoming bridge closure.
Calhoun Ferry Company received the $1.7 million contract for the project.
“I am very pleased the Commission awarded this contract”, said Senator Bill Stouffer. “The ferry service is a vital component to this innovative project, and will provide the alternate transportation needed by the community during the bridge closure.”
Calhoun will have 15 days to sign the contract then will be given a notice to proceed. It is the intention that the ferry service will be in place by the time the bridge is closed to traffic, which is planned for mid-summer.
