What’s the problem?

The bridge located a half-mile to a mile west of Route MM near Lilbourn is old.

What’s the solution?

MoDOT plans to replace both bridges. During construction, the bridges will likely be closed, and traffic will take alternate routes. MoDOT can get a much better price by closing the road. In addition, closing the road significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to construct the new bridge. The contractor can immediately begin work without building temporary traffic bypasses, complete the project, and lessen the length of the impact to motorists.

Where does it stand now?

A $1,064,668 contract was awarded to Penzel Construction Co. in April.

What happens next?

Work is underway.
