Construction Projects
Route 72 - Apex Paving widening and relocating a curve just west of the Sale Barn in Patton. The contractor will haul dirt from a borrow area across from Meadow Heights School. Drivers can expect trucks entering and leaving the area daily as work continues on the relocation. Traffic in this area will also be reduced to one lane, so motorists should expect some delays.
Cape Girardeau County Road 481 will close due to continuing construction on Route 72.This section of roadway is located between Route 72 and Market Street in Millersville. Weather permitting, the road is scheduled to close as early as next Tuesday, Jan. 20 and will remain closed until the new county road connection is built. This section of County Road 481 is anticipated to be closed through the spring of 2010. The closure is needed so the utility company can relocate a power pole near County Road 481. This work is part of the bridge replacement on Route 72. Roberston Contractors expect to start major bridge work sometime in early May.
Route 72 will be reduced to one lane while Apex Paving overlays the roadway and shoulders.This section of roadway is located at the Route 34/72 intersection at Jackson to Route 51 at Patton. The contractor plans to start in Bollinger County and work east. Traffic will be flagger controlled, delays are expected. Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 6 and continue thru July.
Penzel Construction plans to start work replacing the bridge on Route 72 in Bollinger County. The construction signs and clearing will begin first. A bypass will then be constructed to divert traffic to the north side of the existing bridge, so the old bridge can be removed and replaced. Traffic could be diverted to the bypass by the end of June.This section of roadway is located 2.5 miles west of Route 51 at Patton.Weather permitting, the work will take place Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Work will begin June 1 and after the new bridge construction, placement of slopes and shoulder work, the completion of the project is scheduled for mid October.
Route 51 in Perry and Bollinger Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 11 foot restriction while the contractor widens the shoulders and does an asphalt overlay. This section of roadway is located from Interstate 55 Outer Road at Perryville to Route 72 in Patton. The work will be at various locations along this route. They will start with milling and widening for the two foot shoulders and then do the asphalt overlay.Weather permitting, the repairs will begin Wednesday, June 10 and continue thru Friday, September 18 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Route B Work on Route B Little Muddy Creek Bridge in Bollinger County, one of the Safe and Sound bridges, will begin Monday, June 29 at 7 a.m., weather permitting. During work, Route B will be closed to thru traffic from Route 72 to County Road 366. Once construction begins, the project should be completed in approximately six weeks, weather permitting.

Route KK in Bollinger County will be reduced to one lane while Missouri Department of Transportation crews clear brush from shoulders. This section of roadway is located from Route K to Route 51 in Perry County. Weather permitting, the work will take place Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2 from 7:00 a.m. to4:30 p.m.
Butler County

Route M in Butler County will be reduced to one lane with a 14 foot width restriction while contractor crews perform asphalt paving.This section of roadway is located from Route 67to the end of state maintenance. Weather permitting, traffic will be reduced to one lane Thursday, June 18 thru Thursday, July 2 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
A section of Eastbound Route 60 in Stoddard and Butler County will be reduced to one lane while the contractor continues construction of the new ramp for the interchange. This section of roadway begins one mile east of Route DD to one mile west of Route 51. Weather permitting, traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane Tuesday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 1 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Route 53 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform pavement repairs.. The section of roadway is located at the intersection of Business 67 and Route 53.Weather permitting, work will be done Monday, July 6 from 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Route AA in Butler County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews make bridge repairs.This section of roadway is located West of Route 51 to the bridge between County Road 629 and County Road 625.Weather permitting, work will be done Thursday, July 09 from 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Cape Girardeau County
Construction Projects
Route 34/72 - County Road 328 will remain closed for the next couple of months while the contractor is placing new concrete pavement. Route 34 will be reduced to one lane from County Road 335 to the Route 34/72 intersection for concrete paving. Lane reductions are in place at the Route 34/72 intersection while paving is underway. Concrete pavement construction resumes Monday, Sept. 22, weather permitting. Gaines Construction will be pouring concrete at approximately 7 a.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with delays expected. Work will continue through Tuesday. Work will then focus on preparing to move eastbound traffic to the new concrete pavement starting just east of the Cane Creek Bridge to County Road 335, where the four-lane project was completed last year. Traffic is expected to be shifted near the end of this month. Westbound traffic will not be affected at this time. MoDOT again encourages drivers to take alternate routes, carpool or avoid peak travel times (between 6 and 8 a.m. and 3 and 6 p.m.) if possible to lessen those impacts. Work should be complete by the end of the year.

This section of roadway is located from one mile south of Route V at Bloomsdale to Route 34/72 in Jackson. The work will be at various locations with milling of pavement on the South part and asphalt overlay beginning on the North part of Route 61. Weather permitting, the repairs will continue thru September 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.

Route C in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform pavement repairs. This section of roadway is located from Route CC to Route 61. Weather permitting, the work will take place Monday, July 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The contractor will be building the connection between the new roadbed and the existing roadbed.This section of roadway is located from Route TT to County Road 709. Madison County
Construction Projects
Route 67--A contractor hired by MoDOT is working on Route 67 to construct additional lanes for the upgrade to four lanes in Madison, Wayne and Butler Counties. Currently most of the activity is grading work from Route E to the Wayne County line. Drivers should be cautious of trucks entering and leaving the roadway. The work is expected to be completed in late 2010.
Route 67 temporary bypass will begin Monday, May 18 at 6:30 a.m. and will be in place thru the end of the year. The bypass is necessary as grading and paving takes place to make a pavement connection from the new pavement to the existing pavement. There will be a 14 foot width restriction in place through the bypass. The bypass will be located from one mile south of County Road 412 to one quarter of a mile north of County Road 411.
Penzel Construction will begin work to remove and replace the existing narrow bridge on Route 72 in Madison County at Saline Creek.The work is located from Route J to Madison County Road 210. Weather permitting, traffic will be shifted to a one lane bypass starting April 30 and is expected to be in place through mid August.
A temporary bypass will be opened to traffic on Monday, May 18 at 6:30 a.m. as construction continues on Route 67 in Madison County. This change will take place as work begins to grade and pave for a new pavement connection to the existing lanes. Motorist may expect reduced speeds and a 14 foot width restriction in the work zone.This bypass will be located from one mile south of County Road 412 to 0.25 mile north of County Road 411 and is expected to be in place until late in the year.

Mississippi County
Construction Projects
Northbound Interstate 57 in Mississippi County will be closed and traffic will be shifted to the southbound lane with a 12 foot width restriction. Iron Mountain Construction Company will be doing concrete paving along this section of roadway. The section of roadway is located from Route 60/62 at Charleston to the Mississippi River Bridge at the Illinois State Line.Weather permitting, traffic will be shifted to the southbound side starting Tuesday, June 9 and will reopen Monday, Nov. 2.
Route 62 in Mississippi County will be reduced to one lane while Apex Asphalt performs asphalt overlay. The section of roadway is located from Route B at Bertrand to Route 105 at Charleston.Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, June 29 thru Thursday, July 2 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.

Route 80 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform routine bridge repairs. This section of roadway is located from Route AA to County Road 706. The work will take place Tuesday, June 30 thru Friday, July 10 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.
Route M in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform routine bridge maintenance. This section of roadway is located between County Road 421and Route 61.Weather permitting, the work will take place Tuesday, July 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Interstate 55 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform routine bridge maintenance. This section of roadway is located from three miles south of Route E, work will be done to the bridge over Route M.Weather permitting, the work will take place Tuesday, July 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Pemiscot County
Construction Projects
Interstate 55 Ramp in Pemiscot County will be reduced with a 12 foot width restriction while the Contractor begins construction. The construction company will be replacing the existing concrete with new concrete pavement.The section of roadway is located at the I-55 northbound exit ramp to Route 84 (exit 19).Weather permitting, work will begin Tuesday, June 16 and will continue thru June and July from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
Eventually both northbound lanes of Interstate 55 will be closed from the Arkansas State Line to one mile north of Routes U/J for construction of the concrete overlay. Traffic will run head to head in the southbound lanes during construction. Arkansas to Route 164 (Steele) will be closed this summer and fall, Steele to one mile north of Routes U/J will be closed during next spring and early summer. All lanes on Interstate 55 north and southbound will be open to traffic this winter (Nov.15, 2009 to March 15, 2010).Additionally, the northbound ramps will be closed at the following locations and during the specified periods:

This section of roadway is located from two miles south of Route 164 to Route 164. Weather permitting, the work will begin at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30 and will reopen on Wednesday July 2 at 2:00 p.m.
Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane with an 18 foot width restriction while MoDOT crews perform concrete repairs. This section of roadway is located in the southbound lanes from one mile north of Route O to the Arkansas state line. Weather permitting, traffic will be reduced to one lane Monday, July 6 at 7:00 a.m. and will reopen Thursday, July 9 at approximately 3:00 p.m.
Route 84 in Pemiscot County will be closed while MoDOT crews replace a drainage pipe beneath the roadway. This section of oadway is located at Route K and County Road 240. Weather permitting, the work will take place Wednesday, July 08 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Perry County
Construction Projects
Route N Goose Creek Bridge-Work on Route N Goose Creek Bridge in Perry County, one of the Safe and Sound bridges, will begin Monday, June 1 at 6 a.m., weather permitting. Route N will be closed from Sassafras Lane to County Road 816. The project is expected to be completed by late July.
Like most Safe and Sound projects, the bridge will remain closed for the duration of the work, including weekends—it’s quicker and more cost-efficient to do it all at once.

Route 51 in Perry County will be reduced to one lane while crews perform repairs to the railroad crossing. This section of roadway is located from County Road 236 to County Road 934. Weather permitting, the work will take place Monday, July 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Route 51 in Perry County will be reduced to one lane while crews perform a pipe replacement beneath the roadway. This section of roadway is located from County Road 238 to Route C. Weather permitting, the work will take place Monday, July 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Scott County
Construction Projects
Route A in Scott County will be closed while the contractor, Joe’s Bridge and Grading, removes the existing structure and constructs the new bridge.This section of roadway is located between County Road 234 and County Road 224 (one quarter of a mile west of New Hamburg).Weather permitting, the work will begin Monday, May 18 at 6:30 a.m. and is anticipated to end the middle of August.
Route K in Scott County will be reduced to one lane while Fronabarger Concretes start construction. The construction company will be widening the roadway and installing a turn lane. Traffic could possibly back up on Route K, Route 61 and Interstate 55 exit ramps. The section of roadway is located between Route 61 and Elm Street at Scott City. They will also be installing a right turn lane on Route K to the northbound Ramp to Interstate 55 at Scott City.Weather permitting, work will begin Friday, June 12 and will continue thru Wednesday, July 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Route 61 in Scott County will continue to be reduced to one lane while Fronabarger Concretes continues construction. The construction company will be widening the shoulders and installing a turn lane. The section of roadway is located north of Route HH/ZZ intersection to one mile south of Grant City, at McCullah Drive.Weather permitting, work will began Tuesday, May 5 and will continue thru August 1 from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

Interstate 55 in Scott County will be reduced to one lane with a 16 foot width restriction while Modot crews perform concrete repairs in the northbound lane.The section of roadway is located from Route 62 at Minor to Route HH (exit 69). Weather permitting, traffic will be reduced to one lane beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6 and will reopen at approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9.
Route AA in Scott County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform routine bridge repairs.This section of roadway is located between the County Line Road and Route 60, one mile south of Route 62. The work will take place Tuesday, July 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

St. Francois County
Construction Projects
Route 221 will be reduced to one lane on the bridge over the St. Francis River, approximately 1 mile south of Farmington on Route 221 for bridge repairs. Temporary traffic signals, barrels and work zone signing will be in place around the clock to direct traffic through the work area. Motorists should expect delays of 5 to 10 minutes throughout the duration of the lane closure.
Route 67-As part of the Safe & Sound program, work to replace the deck of the Route 67 St. Francis River Bridge in St. Francois County will begin May 27 at 6:30 a.m., weather permitting. During work, Route 67 north and southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane in each direction with two-way traffic from Hildebrecht Road to the Route W/221 interchange. Also, there will be a 16-foot width restriction in the northbound lane and a 20-foot width restriction in the southbound lane. Lane reductions are expected to be in place until August 25, including nights and weekends.
Route 67-Work on the Route 67 Big River Bridge in St. Francois County, one of the Safe and Sound projects, will begin Tuesday, July 7 at 6:30 a.m. During work to construct the northbound bridge deck, Route 67 will be reduced to one lane, two-way traffic from the Route 8 interchange to the Orchard Road interchange. There will also be a 16-foot width restriction in the northbound lanes and 20-foot width restriction in the southbound lanes. Lane reductions are expected to be in place until October 2009, including nights and weekends.
North and southbound Route 67 in St. Francois County will be reduced to one lane with a 16 foot width restriction while construction crews do shoulder repairs. The work will be done between Route 8 interchange at Desloge and Orchard Road interchange near Bonne Terre as work begins to remove median crossovers at Stormy Lane, McNail Drive and Weible Road.Weather permitting, the work will begin Tuesday, June 23at 6:30 a.m. and is expected to last through 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9.

Ste. Genevieve County
Construction Projects
Route 61 in Ste. Genevieve, Perry and Cape Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 10 foot restriction while the contractor performs resurfacing and shoulder repairs. This section of roadway is located from one mile south of Route V at Bloomsdale to Route 34/72 in Jackson. The work will be at various locations with milling of pavement on the South part and asphalt overlay beginning on the North part of Route 61.Weather permitting, the repairs will continue thru September 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
Route N-Work on Route N Saline Creek Bridge in Ste. Genevieve County, one of the Safe and Sound bridges, will begin the week of June 22, weather permitting.
“Like most Safe and Sound bridge projects, this project will involve a road closure,” said Resident Engineer Darius Dowdy. “However, some of the work in this area can be performed prior to the road closure. When possible, we want to keep from asking drivers to take detour routes.”
The road closure will begin on Monday, June 29 at 7 a.m., weather permitting. Route N will be closed from Route NN to Route P. The bridge will remain closed for the duration of construction, including nights and weekends—it’s quicker and more cost-efficient to do it all at once. During construction, detour routes will be marked. The project should be completed in approximately six weeks.

Stoddard County
Construction Projects
Route Y in Stoddard County will be closed while Nestle-Purina removes a portion of the existing roadway and embankment to allow for the construction of the new portion of roadway.This section of roadway is located two miles east of Route 25 to two and one half mile east of Route 25.Weather permitting, the work will begin Monday, April 13 at 7:00 a.m and is scheduled to end at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13.
Route 25 in Stoddard County near McDonald’s in Advance will be reduced to one lane while the contractor, ASA Asphalt, continues work. Work will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday, weather permitting. The project should be completed by the end of the summer.

Route 67 - Drivers on Route 67 should be alert for equipment crossing during the night at the traffic signals just north of Greenville in Wayne County. Work is expected to start Thursday, March 5, 2009, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. nightly, down time will be identified on the changeable message signs. Weather permitting, the contractor is expected to be hauling material at the crossing for approximately eight weeks in conjunction with the new four-lane project. This nighttime crossing is in addition to the daytime equipment crossings already in use. Work is expected to continue in the area seven days a week for several weeks. Drivers should see the signals and the equipment crossing and it should continue in this area until the Summer of 2009. Travelers should expect up to six-minute delays daily, including weekends.
