Work to provide traffic relief along Route 13 in Stone County is progressing steadily southward. A new segment of Route 13 was completed in spring 2008 to relocate the highway west of Branson West to provide easier travel on the new roadway and on what is now Business Route 13 through town. This work follows completion of a similar Route 13 project at Reeds Spring.
The next step is to improve traffic flow along 5.5 miles of Route 13 between Branson West and Kimberling City.
Adding through lanes, turn lanes and shoulders and straightening curves on the entire road would cost more than $40 million for this stretch of Route 13. Funding that can be acquired for this project is more in the range of $20 million. As a result, designers are working on a plan to add lanes where needed the most and straighten only the sections of roadway with the most curves.
