*DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD
- Crews are scheduled to work around the clock
on U.S. 60/Route 413 in Republic Sunday through Friday
during the week of October 10, the Missouri Department
of Transportation said.
Old pavement will be ground off and a new driving surface
will be laid between West Avenue and Hines Street.
The grinding operation will run between 6 p.m. and 6
a.m. each day. The paving operation will follow, between
6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Crews will begin at West Avenue and proceed east to
Hines Street. Then the operation will turn around and
go from Hines Street to West Avenue.
Two-way traffic will be maintained during the work.
However, it will be necessary to shift traffic into
the center turn lane at times.
Rain will cause delays in the project.
Other work planned will take place AWAY from traffic.
Sidewalks will be built and street lighting installed.
Week of October 17
Asphalt will be laid along U.S. 60/Route 413 during
the day.
No night work is planned -- unless weather or other
factors delay the paving operation during the week of
October 10.
Drivers can expect bumps to remain at some city street
approaches that have been rebuilt until they can be
repaved. Background
The prime contractor on the $6.1-million widening project
along U.S.60/Route 413 in Republic is Journagan Construction
of Springfield. Some sewer and water line work is being
done by the City of Republic, a partner with MoDOT on
the project.
The project involves adding a lane in each direction
and rebuilding city street approaches and driveway entrances
between Hines Street and West Avenue, with work continuing
into the fall. The highway will be resurfaced through
Republic's city limits. |
