A preview of how construction of a new interchange on U.S. 65 at Hollister is expected to proceed will be covered in a Partners in Progress meeting Thursday, June 24.
The session will be at 2:30 p.m. in Hollister City Hall.
Partners in Progress was formed to develop the highway project. Members include representatives of the City of Hollister and Taney County along with MoDOT engineers, law enforcement agencies, local business owners and others interested in transportation issues.
Work on the new interchange will begin in mid-October after a contractor is chosen in mid-August. The project will be completed in late 2006.
Engineers will provide a large-scale display to help explain the project.
The interchange will be built about a 1/2-mile south of the Business 65/Route V intersection.
When the project is completed, traffic at the U.S. 65 intersections with Business 65/Route V, Mall Road and Route 165 will be relocated onto the new interchange.
The City of Hollister is putting $6.5 million into the construction project and Taney County is adding $3 million. MoDOT will pay the remaining costs.
The cost to build the interchange is estimated to be about $19 million.
