Two slow-moving pavement marking operations planned for Interstate-44 between the Missouri-Oklahoma state line and the Franklin-Crawford county line near Sullivan will cause slow downs for drivers during September, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Here's what is planned:
* Beginning the week of August 30, raised reflective markers will be repaired or replaced along the westbound and eastbound lanes of I-44.
Crews will begin the work at the Missouri-Oklahoma state line and progress to the east.
Drivers can expect a 1-to-4-mile long work zone where the contractor crews are set up.
The crews will work 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The contractor is NES Traffic Safety, L.P. of Romeoville, Ill., for a low-bid amount of $233,214.
* Beginning Tuesday, September 7, a contractor crew is scheduled to begin painting pavement striping on I-44 beween Sullivan and the Missouri-Oklahoma state line.
The operation will move west in the westbound lanes of I-44, starting at Sullivan. Then the crew will turn around and move east in the eastbound lanes.
Drivers can expect a train of four or five vehicles in the striping operation -- a sweeper truck, a striper truck and two or three warning trucks.
The vehicles will move at about 10 mph. Merge carefully into one lane when passing the striping equipment.
Crews will work 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The contractor is Central Seal Co of Danville, Ky., for a low-bid amount of $301,162.
Both projects are scheduled to be completed by October 1.
