DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - Concrete will be poured for a new lane and new curbs will be built along the NORTH side of U.S. 60/Route 413 between Main and West avenues in Republic through the weeks of June 21 and June 28.
Excavation work will be done along the SOUTH side of the highway between Elm and Hines streets as contractor crews tear out existing curbs and put in new drain pipes.
Most of the work will be off the roadway and should not cause major traffic disruptions, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Entrances to businesses may be narrowed because of the project, but drivers will be able to get in and out.
However, Main Avenue remains closed at U.S. 60/Route 413, Broad Street remains closed at Main Avenue and Logan Street remains closed at U.S. 60/Route 413. New approaches to the highway are being built.
No night work is scheduled.
The U.S. 60/Route 413 project involves adding a lane in each direction and rebuilding city street approaches and driveway entrances, with work continuing into the fall. The road will be resurfaced in the spring of 2005 after the weather warms up.
Updates on the construction will run on "Republic Radio," 1610 AM, MoDOT's low-power station broadcasting round the clock from the project.
