A project to resurface U.S. 65 between Routes 165 and 86 south of Hollister is set to begin the week of August 30, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
During the week of August 30 and part of the week of September 6, crews will install new guardrail and grade dirt around the guardrail.
This work will take place AWAY from traffic during daytime hours.
Then the 4.6-mile long project will shift to nighttime work on the pavement itself. Here's what to expect:
* Crews are scheduled to begin working nights on Wednesday, September 8. Old pavement will be ground off and new asphalt laid.
* Work hours will be 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights.
* Flaggers will direct one lane of traffic through the work zone where crews and equipment are set up.
The highway will get a 1-3/4-inch surface of SuperPave asphalt -- an asphalt mix designed for use on high-traffic volume routes.
The project is scheduled for completion by October 1.
The contractor doing the work is Journagan Construction of Springfield for a low bid amount of $569,924.
