Route YY Closed Temporarily July 4

As Safety Precaution During Air Show

DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - Greene County Route YY east of U.S. 65 will be closed twice -- for 40 minutes and then 20 minutes -- late Sunday afternoon, July 4, as a safety precaution in connection with a Fourth of July air show.

The Missouri Department of Transportation granted permission for the road closing to the James River Assembly of God for the church's "I Love America" celebration.

Law enforcement officers will direct traffic during the closings -- scheduled for 4 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. to 5:40 p.m.

Aerobatics are planned as part of the program. To ensure safety along the roadway on the south side of the festival grounds, a section of Route YY will be closed.

The road closing comes at the request of the Federal Aviation Administration.

The closed section of Route YY (East Division Street) will be between U.S. 65 and LeCompte Road (or Greene County Farm Road 185).

Drivers east of the road closings will have access to LeCompte Road. On the west side of the closing, drivers will be able to use U.S. 65.
