Why are Safety Improvements Needed on the Route 30 Corridor?
The portion of Route 30 between Interstate 270 and Route B/NN has experienced a high number of intersection crashes that resulted in fatalities and severe injuries. MoDOT has federal funding available for intersection modifications to help reduce those crashes and is seeking public input and comment.
What Improvements Will MoDOT Accomplish?
MoDOT will make safety improvements along Route 30 from the St. Louis County line to Route B/NN in Jefferson County:
- Acceleration and deceleration lanes
- Off-set turn lanes
- Intersection lighting
- Signal modifications
- Adaptive signal system
- Travel time system

How Will Traffic Be Impacted During Construction?
Motorists can expect minor delays during non-peak travel times. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2012 and will be complete by late 2013.

The estimated construction cost for the Route 30 Safety Improvement Project is $5 million.
