MoDOT dedicates completed interchange at Route 94 and Interstate 70
ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation, and its contractor, Fred Weber, Inc., along with St. Charles County and St. Charles City officials will celebrate the opening of the Route 94 and Interstate 70 interchange with a dedication event on Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m. on the grassy area at the southeastern corner of the interchange (near Classic Cars). The public and the media are cordially invited to attend the event. Vehicles can park in the Classic Cars lot, or at the Ridgecrest Baptist Church by the interchange.
This dedication culminates a three-phase, $27 million, project to improve the interchange at Route 94 and I-70. The first phase of the project ran from 2001 to summer 2002, when crews constructed an auxiliary lane on westbound I-70 between 5th Street and Route 94. In February 2004, crews started constructing the single-point urban interchange, replacing the old two-lane twin bridges with a new 10-lane bridge with dual left-turn lanes. In February 2006, crews began working on the approaches to the interchange, constructing a roundabout on the northern side of the project and two tunnels to take the I-70 outer roads under Route 94. Crews also added a lane on westbound Route 94 between I-70 and Zumbehl Road.

MoDOT Celebrates the Opening of Two Bridge Projects in Franklin County
LABADIE - Missouri Department of Transportation celebrated the opening of two bridge replacement projects on Route T in Labadie on Monday, September 17 at a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony. This celebration was held on the parking lot near the completed project at the intersection of Rte. T and Front Street with the media and public invited to attend.
Officials who attended the ceremony included: Michelle Sherod, office of US Senator Claire McCaskill; Jenni Riegel, office of US Representative Kenny Hulshof; State Senator John Griesheimer; Presiding Franklin County Commissioner Ed Hillhouse; First District Commissioner Terry Wilson, former Presiding Commissioner Gene Scott and former District Commissioner Lester Bohle.
The Rte. T bridge over Labadie Creek (east of Route MM) was built in approximately 1932 and needed to be replaced. This bridge had two 12-foot lanes and no shoulders. MoDOT replaced the existing bridge because it was structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. The new bridge has two 11-foot lanes and two foot outside shoulders. Safety features such as guardrails and safety barrier curbs were also added to the bridge.
The Central Midland Railway bridge over Route T was built in 1910 and was in need of replacement. Rte. T under the bridge was restricted to a one-way roadway with a signal regulating through traffic. There were also curves along Rte. T west of Rte. MM. This caused very limited sight distance along
Rte. T, especially for drivers that turned onto this highway from Rte. MM. MoDOT rebuilt the Central Midland Railway bridge over Rte. T and widened the highway to accommodate one lane in each direction.
MoDOT began construction on the two bridges in July 2006 with its contractor, Don Schneiders Excavating Company, Inc. The estimated construction cost to replace the bridge over Labadie Creek is $1.5 million. The estimated construction cost to replace the Central Midland Railway bridge and improve Rte. T west of Rte. MM is $3.5 million.
